    2. Core Sectors & Industrial Impact

    • Electronics & IT Hardware: Performance-linked incentives (offering 4%–6% on incremental sales) under the Large-Scale Electronics PLI and PLI 2.0 for IT Hardware have transformed domestic assembly and component manufacturing for mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and servers. Total electronics output expanded from ~₹1.9 lakh crore in 2014–15 to ~₹13.11 lakh crore in 2025–26, making smartphones India's single largest exported commodity in FY 2025–26.

  • Capacity Utilisation & Import Substitution: PLI incentives, alongside rising capacity utilization and import substitution, contributed directly to boosting real manufacturing GVA growth to 9.2% in Q1 FY 2026–27.

  • Specialty Materials: Targeted PLI rounds—such as PLI 1.2 for Specialty Steel—incentivize the domestic production of advanced inputs like super alloys, CRGO steel, stainless steel, and titanium alloys. These efforts complement wider capital incentive programs for rare-earth permanent magnets, semiconductors, and dedicated chemical manufacturing parks.
